Dutchess County resident Maurice Bogle, age 38, of the City of Poughkeepsie, was charged on Thursday, Nov. 2 during an early-morning raid.

According to Det. Sgt. Adam Harris of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force, Bogle was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and criminal sale of a controlled substance. Additional charges are pending.

The task force has been continuing to investigate drug dealers who peddle fentanyl and has been investigating the sale of fentanyl on Forbus Street within approximately 200 feet of Poughkeepsie High School, Harris said.

Drug Task Force agents purchased fentanyl and other narcotics from Bogle during the course of the investigation, Harris added.

After making the purchases, agents conducted an early morning raid of a house on Forbus Street with the assistance of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Service Unit and the City of Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Recovery Unit.

As a result of the raid of Bogle’s residence, a quantity of cocaine and fentanyl were seized, Harris said.

"The Drug Task Force will aggressively target poison dealers in Dutchess County to prevent senseless and preventable overdose deaths in Dutchess County," Harris said.

Harris said fentanyl is the leading cause of overdose deaths in Dutchess County.

"Selling fentanyl in close proximity to a school is a public health risk and the Drug Task Force will aggressively target any person who sells fentanyl in Dutchess County," Harris said.
